Getting Catty in Seneca South Carolina

Pimiento Cheese sign on door at Oconee History Museum

As a cat woman, I was thrilled to discover a lot of cats in Seneca. There are the cat murals in Norton Thompson Park on Main St. just next to Ram Cat Alley. There are 12 metal cats, each painted by different artists. Then there is one special kitty named Pimiento Cheese, or Cheese for short, who lives at the Oconee History Museum.

I took a cat walk and saw some of the metal cats, all the murals, and almost met Pimiento Cheese at the museum. She was on the second-floor balcony and scurried behind one of the exhibits to rest and avoid having to greet a bunch of people who would all coo over how cute she was. I followed her on Instagram. She's @pimientocheesemuseumcat if you want to follow too.

Metal Cats

Here's a few of the metal cats. This first one was resting near the Seneca Welcome sign. The other was in the park by the murals. Aren't they cute?

Mural Trail

At the beginning of the mural trail, there is a mural telling the story of how Ram Cat Alley got its name.

The murals each tell a story about one cat. As a cat person, I know that unlike dogs who have specific traits dependent on breeds, cats all have their own personality. Here are some of the murals.

Browsing Ram Cat Alley

Of course, you want to see the cats but after there are many shops, restaurants, antique shops, and more. Some of my friends and I dined at Ram Cat Cellar. Tasty food with a speakeasy atmosphere.

Our main dishes were great, I had a Pepperoni flatbread but the desserts really shone. Between the assorted cheesecakes and the dark rich chocolate fondue to dip or marshmallows, strawberries an dapple slivers in that was heaven on a plate.

Just off the alley on Main street you'll find Keowee Brewing if you are looking for adult beverages and live music.

Try one of their wine slushies and enjoy the patio.

On your way downstairs to the patio, say hello to their big-cat mural on the stairway wall. He's really spaced out.

While you roam Ram Cat Alley, you might spot one of their present day feline residents.
